Hi, this is Naomi, I was very interested to hear that a restaurant where you can get pancakes and other brunch menu will opennear Kamogawa and Takasegawa River in February 2023.
A closer look reveals that this is the first Kansai branch of a company that operates a restaurant called “IVY PLACE” in Daikanyama, Tokyo.
IVY PLACE opened when I was in my 20s. I was actually living in the Kanto area at the time. I liked the stylish atmosphere of the newly opened IVY PLACE and had been there several times!
So, over time, I was thrilled to remember that “Kyoto can do it, too! I was thrilled to remember that time!
The pancakes I had in Tokyo were very good, so I was happy to see that the new restaurant in Kyoto also has pancakes as a recommended menu item.

What kind of restaurant is Kacto?
Opened on February 1, 2023, this café-restaurant is located along the Kamo River near Shijo Kawaramachi.
The restaurant offers a modern American menu with a Japanese flavor, available from breakfast to dinner.
Located between the Kamo and Takase Rivers, a short distance south of Shijo-Kawaramachi, you can enjoy a view of either depending on your seat.
This is the first Kansai branch ofTYSONS & COMPANY, which operates famous and popular restaurants such as ” T.Y.HARBOR ” in Tennozu, Shinagawa and “IVY PLACE ” in Daikanyama.

It is located at the west of Donguri-bashi Bridge, one bridge south of Shijo Ohashi. This is the former location of “Scorpione Kichiji”.
It is a two-story building with very large windows.
Next door on the left is BABBI, an Italian gelato shop.
The name ” Kacto” comes from the restaurant’s location at the foot of the Donguri Bridge and is named after the word kakuto, meaning acorn hat.
The north wall is easy to recognize because there is a flag on the wall with the name of the restaurant and the opening date.

As soon as you enter, the beautiful blue tiles under the kitchen counter catch your eye.
The first floor has two sets of tables for two people by the window and five sets in the front.

Going up to the second floor, there is a bar counter in the center with seating for 4 or 5 people.

In spring, I think it is beautiful to see the rows of cherry trees along the Takase River.
This time I reserved a seat in the front of the room.
Here are the seats on the Kamogawa side of the second floor; there were a total of six sets of tables for two people. The wide wall on the left is a beautiful blue color.

Modern lamps on the ceiling are nice. Chairs and tables are dark brown, creating a relaxed atmosphere.
The windows extend to the foot of the room, giving it a good view and a sense of openness.

I first tried to go with my husband on Saturday and Sunday mornings, but they were fully booked. So I made a reservation for a weekday morning at 8:00 a.m. and went by myself.
When I visited the restaurant at 8:00 on the day of my visit, there were three women, including myself, who were using the restaurant alone.
The number of customers gradually increased, and by the time I left at 9:30,the seats were about 60 or 70% full.
During the morning hours of that day, all the window seats on the second floor Kamogawa side of the restaurant seemed to be reserved.

It is a state-of-the-art system that seems to be from a major company. I thought it was a hygienic and very convenient system because it allowed us to order without touching the menu table, which is touched by an unspecified number of people.

The latte arrived first, so the surface became a little foamy and bubbly while waiting for the pancakes.

Dense, firm dough that is rich and slightly sweet with a buttermilk flavor.
The butter on top has a milky, gentle flavor. It is even sweeter and tastier when drizzled with maple syrup.

Melted , semi-cooked eggs, plump and juicy sausage, and crispy bacon.
It tastes sweet and savory when dipped in maple syrup.

The kale and tomatoes are served with a light mayonnaise that has a strong homemade acidity.
The pancakes are larger than they look, and you will be quite full.
Finally, half of it was served with lots of maple syrup, just like dessert.
The pancakes I got at IVY PLACE in Daikanyama a long time ago and the ones I got this time were equally very good, so I asked the waitress for more details.

Both the plates and cups were lovely vessels with warm colors, a gentle touch, and a soothing element.
